Welcome to OhmMy! This guide will walk you through setting up your account and connecting your first energy device. By the end, you'll have a complete view of your home energy ecosystem.

Tip

Before you begin, make sure you have your energy provider account credentials ready. You'll need these to connect your devices.

What You'll Need

To get the most out of OhmMy, you'll want to connect at least one of the following:

  • Solar inverter (SolaxCloud, SolarEdge, GivEnergy, or Tesla)
  • Home battery (Tesla Powerwall, GivEnergy, or compatible systems)
  • EV charger (MyEnergi Zappi or compatible)
  • Smart tariff (Octopus Energy)

Step 1: Create Your Account

Head to ohmmy.energy and click Get Started. You can sign up with your email or use Google/Apple authentication.

Info

Your data is encrypted and securely stored. We never share your information with third parties.

Step 2: Connect Your Energy Provider

Navigate to Settings > Integrations and select your energy provider. For Octopus Energy users, you'll need:

  1. Your API key (found in your Octopus account dashboard)
  2. Your account number (starts with A-)
  3. Your MPAN (meter point reference)

Once connected, OhmMy will automatically fetch your tariff rates and usage data.

Step 3: Add Your Devices

With your account set up, it's time to connect your devices. Each integration has its own setup process:

Solar Inverters

ProviderConnection TypeData Available
SolaxCloudAPI KeyGeneration, consumption
SolarEdgeAPI KeyGeneration, battery, consumption
GivEnergyBearer TokenFull control + monitoring
TeslaOAuthFull control + monitoring

Home Batteries

Most battery systems connect through their inverter integration. Tesla Powerwalls and GivEnergy batteries offer additional control features like:

  • Setting charge/discharge schedules
  • Adjusting reserve percentages
  • Enabling grid export controls

Warning

Battery control features should be used carefully. Always maintain a minimum reserve for backup power.

Step 4: Explore Your Dashboard

Once your devices are connected, your dashboard will show:

  • Real-time power flow between solar, battery, grid, and home
  • Daily/weekly/monthly energy statistics
  • Cost savings based on your tariff
  • Carbon savings from your renewable generation

Next Steps

Now that you're set up, explore these features:

  1. Smart Scheduling - Automatically charge your battery during off-peak hours
  2. Export Optimization - Maximize revenue from grid export
  3. EV Integration - Coordinate EV charging with your solar generation
  4. Alerts - Get notified about unusual consumption or system issues

Success

Congratulations! You're now part of the OhmMy community. Start tracking your energy and watch your savings grow.
