Settings & Preferences

Everything in OhmMy is configured through the Settings page. It is organised into four tabs: Energy Provider, Devices, Optimisation, and Account. This guide walks through each one.

Access Settings at any time by clicking Settings in the main navigation. The tabs appear as pill buttons at the top of the page.

1Energy Provider Tab

Connected Tariffs

If you have already connected an energy provider, it will be listed here showing the provider name, tariff code, and connection status. You can connect multiple providers if needed.

Connecting a Provider

Use the Select energy provider dropdown to choose your supplier, then fill in the connection form that appears below it. Each provider requires different credentials:

Octopus Energy

Requires your API key (starting with sk_) and your account number (starting with A-). You also select your current tariff from a dropdown. Both can be found in your Octopus online account under Developer Settings.

EDF Energy

Requires your API key and account number. Both are found in your EDF online account. Your tariff is detected automatically on connection. See the EDF Energy integration guide for details.

E.ON Next

Requires the email address and password you use to log in to your E.ON Next online account. E.ON Next does not provide a separate API key — your credentials are encrypted before storage and never held in plain text. See the E.ON Next integration guide for details.

2Devices Tab

Your Devices

All connected devices are shown as cards displaying the manufacturer, model, device type (battery, solar, EV charger), serial number (masked for security), and connection status. A green Connected badge means OhmMy is actively receiving data from the device. You can remove any device by clicking Remove on its card.

Connecting a New Device

Use the Select an integration dropdown to choose your device manufacturer. The connection form for that manufacturer will appear below. Supported device integrations:

GivEnergy

API bearer token from the GivEnergy portal. Supports battery, solar, and EV charger. Full monitoring and control. Setup guide →

Tesla

OAuth2 login — you are redirected to Tesla to authorise access. Supports Powerwall (battery) and Tesla Solar. OhmMy never sees your Tesla password. Setup guide →

SolarEdge

API key and Site ID from monitoring.solaredge.com. Supports solar and battery. Read-only — data syncs every 15 minutes. Setup guide →

SolaxCloud

Token ID and inverter serial number from SolaxCloud. Supports solar and battery. Read-only monitoring. Setup guide →

MyEnergi

Hub serial number and API key from the MyEnergi app. Supports Zappi (EV charger), Libbi (battery), and Eddi (solar diverter). Setup guide →

Sigenergy

mySigen username and password. Auto-discovers your SigenStor system. Supports battery, solar, and EV charger. Read-only — data refreshes every 5 minutes. Setup guide →

3Optimisation Tab

Primary Optimisation Goal

Choose what OhmMy should prioritise when scheduling battery charging and discharging:

💰

Minimise Cost

Charges the battery during the cheapest rate periods and discharges during peak expensive periods. Best for time-of-use tariffs like Octopus Agile or EDF FreePhase Dynamic.

🌱

Minimise Carbon

Uses the UK national grid carbon intensity data to charge when the grid is greenest (most renewable generation), even if this is not the cheapest period. Best for those prioritising environmental impact.

🏠

Balanced

A middle-ground mode that balances cost savings with reliability and comfort. A good default if you want meaningful savings without aggressive scheduling.

Minimum Battery Reserve

Set using the slider (0–100%). OhmMy will never discharge your battery below this level. This is your backup power reserve — the amount of charge kept available in case of a grid outage or unexpected demand. The default is 20%.

If you never want backup power, you can set this to 0%. If you want significant backup capacity, consider 30–50%.

Postcode

Entering your postcode is optional but recommended. It is used to improve solar generation forecasts and provide local weather data on your dashboard. Your postcode is stored securely and not shared with third parties.

Notifications

Toggle email notifications on or off. When enabled, OhmMy will send alerts for:

  • Completed optimisation runs and schedule changes
  • Device connection errors or lost connectivity
  • Weekly savings summaries

Solcast Solar Forecasting

For the most accurate solar forecasts, OhmMy can connect to your personal Solcast account. Solcast provides site-specific solar irradiance forecasts based on your exact roof orientation and tilt.

To set this up:

  1. 1. Create a free account at solcast.com and set up your rooftop site.
  2. 2. Copy your API key from the Solcast dashboard.
  3. 3. Copy your Resource ID(s) for each rooftop site.
  4. 4. Paste these into the Solcast section on this tab and click Save.

Without a Solcast key, OhmMy uses a general regional solar forecast which is less precise but still functional.

📊 How Optimisation Works

  • • The optimisation engine runs automatically twice a day — at 1am and 1pm.
  • • It analyses your tariff rates for the next 48 hours.
  • • Battery charging is scheduled during the cheapest (or greenest) periods.
  • • Discharging is planned for expensive peak periods.
  • • Solar forecasts are used to avoid charging from the grid when free solar is expected.
  • • You can trigger a manual run at any time from the dashboard.

4Account Tab

Subscription Status

Shows your current subscription plan and billing status. You can upgrade, downgrade, or manage your billing details from here.

Community Profile

Set a Display Name that will appear on your community posts and comments. Your email address is never shown publicly.

  • 2–30 characters
  • Letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens only
  • Can be changed at any time

Account Information

Displays your registered email address, the date your account was created, and your timezone (used for scheduling and display of times across the platform).

Sign Out

Click Sign Out to securely end your session. You can sign back in at any time — all your connected devices and preferences will be saved.

Data Privacy

A summary of OhmMy's data commitments. All energy data and API credentials are encrypted and isolated to your account. You have full control and can remove any integration or delete your account at any time. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
